Early Life

Loni Love was born on July 12, 1971, in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up with her parents James and Cynthia Love, both of whom were devout Seventh-day Adventists. Love attended Cass Technical High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated in 1989. She then attended Prairie View A&M University in Texas, where she received her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1994.

Career

Love started her career as an engineer and was working at Xerox in California when she decided to pursue stand-up comedy. She moved to Los Angeles in 2003 and began performing in comedy clubs. Her big break came in 2009, when she was cast in Chelsea Handler’s show Chelsea Lately. She was a regular panelist on the show for four years.

The Real

In 2013, Love was cast as a co-host on the daytime talk show The Real. She has been a regular on the show since then, alongside panelists Adrienne Houghton, Tamera Mowry-Housley, Jeannie Mai, and Amanda Seales. The show has been nominated for multiple Daytime Emmy Awards, and Love has won two Emmys for her work on the show.
